Home Learning
Spellings will be sent out each week. We have supplied a selection of spelling activities that children can use to help them learn, on Class Dojo.
Once your child has finished their reading book at school, they will take it home to practice more. The book should be easy – children should not encounter any words that they cannot read. The aim of taking the book home is to develop fluency and expression and to foster a love of reading.
Children will bring home 2 books. One is a book that is matched to your child’s reading level. The other is a ‘reading for pleasure’ book and is meant to be read with/to your child. More information can be found on the 'Phonics and Early Reading' page.
Start/End of the day
Doors open at 8:50. Children can come straight in to class to get on with morning activities. Please encourage your child to be independent once they have got to grips with the routine – the corridor gets very busy! The school day finishes at 3:25 for KS1. Children can be collected from the playground doors. Please note that we can only allow children to leave with adults that are named on the contact list. If your child is due to be collected by someone that is not known to us, please get in touch with your class teacher.
Tuck Shop
The Tuck Shop runs at break times on Mon, Wed and Fri and sells healthy snacks at playtime. No more than 30p a day will be needed. Money will be collected in by teachers in the morning and kept safe until needed.
PE
We advise children to leave their PE kit in their locker for the week and take it home when it is ready for washing. Children will need warmer clothes for outdoor PE in the colder weather.
