Key Stage 2

Reading

In Year 3 and 4, children continue to build fluency, prosody and understanding of texts through the Little Wandle Fluency model. As children move into KS2, reading is taught through access to a range of high quality whole class texts and reading comprehension resources from Grammarsaurus.

Writing

In Key Stage 2, children continue to develop as thoughtful, skilled writers with a strong sense of audience and purpose. They learn to plan, draft, edit, and improve their writing across a wide range of genres, including narratives, persuasive texts, reports, and poetry. Vocabulary and sentence structure become more sophisticated, and children are encouraged to experiment with language to create effect. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are taught in a structured way and applied consistently in their writing. Through regular opportunities to write at length and reflect on their work, pupils grow in confidence, creativity, and independence and learn the vital skills they will need in later life.
